    Kate Derickson, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Georgia State University, visited the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences, University of Glasgow from November – December 2012.
  • Senior Research Fellowship
    Award to the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences, University of Glasgow, to fund a three Senior Research Fellowship.
  • International Fellowships
    Awarded to Dr Basile Ndjio (University of Douala), Dr Mariana Fix (Faculdades Campinas) and Dr Jorge Inzulza Contardo (University of Chile).
  • PhD
    Award to Urban Studies, School of Social and Political Sciences, University of Glasgow, to fund a 1+3 PhD studentship.

2011

  • Postdoctoral Fellowship
    Award to University of Glasgow to fund three 3-year positions within Urban Studies, School of Social and Political Sciences
  • International Fellowship
    Awarded to Shari Daya (UCT). Shari’s research project is “A new urban imaginary: the cultural economies of craft in Cape Town, South Africa” and the work will be carried out in the Geography Department at Cambridge University. Shari will be mentored by Professor Ash Amin, who will be taking up the post of Professor of Geography at Cambridge in September 2011.
  • PhD
    Award to University of Glasgow to allow funding of four PhD studentships (within Urban Studies and Geographical and Earth Sciences).

2010

  • Visiting Fellowship
    Lakshmi Subramanian, Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta will be visiting the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences, University of Glasgow in May 2011.

    Hayden Lorimer and Hester Parr, School of Geographical and Earth Sciences, University of Glasgow, to part-fund an international two-day conference, “Excursions: Telling Stories and Journeys”
  • Postdoctoral Fellowship
    • Dr Mark Livingston (Urban Studies) – three year appointment

    • Kendra Strauss (GES) – 21 month appointment
    • Award to University of Glasgow to fund three 3-year positions within School of Geographical and Earth Sciences to begin in 2011/12.

2009

  • Senior Research Fellows
    Four 5-year Senior Research Fellowships in the University of Glasgow. Professor Mark Stephens, Dr Deborah Bryceson, Dr Danny MacKinnon and Dr Andrew Millie were all appointed to these new positions in 2009 and between them bring a considerable breadth of research activities, ranging from housing policy, developing world cities, urban and regional governance and urban crime and disorder, to the Foundation’s activities.
