This two-day online international seminar, between 6 and 7 November of 2023, will strengthen debate about critical feminist urban research and explore new epistemologies at the intersection of gender, women’s urban struggles, and the production of peripheral territories. This event initiates a larger Urban Studies Foundation-funded Seminar Series exploring the urban struggles of marginalised women in transforming their peripheral territories in different contexts of the Global South, particularly, Southern Africa and Latin America. The event will include keynote sessions by critical gender scholars, and paper presentation sessions selected from abstract submissions. Following the 2-day virtual seminar there will be three face to face seminars in São Paulo (March 2024), as well as Johannesburg and Dar es Salaam (April 2024).
